点评:Went to East Lynne theater for the first time for its Halloween themed readings, TALES of MYSTERY and Suspense. The performance is held in a church. It was set up in a minimalist spooky vibe with appropriate lighting. The show itself was awful. Three actors read in their attempt at dramatic style from loose leaf binders. There was a pretty female in a Victorian mourning outfit, a guy in a frock type coat to look a bit Gothic, and a second guy in black broacaded vest outfit that looks like it was stolen from a 1960's bass player in a British invasion band. The trio tried but the material was not very good. They must have known it because they rushed through the presentation. The whole boring affair only lasted 45 minutes. The diction of the female was not helped by the "French" accent. In sum, the actors lived down to the material. At one point they read notes from HP Lovecraft's essay on writing horror. It was as spooky as reading the manual for setting up your smart phone. Poe's THE RAVEN was done like an Evelyn Wood speed reading exercise. All in all not worth the ticket price.
