点评:The Chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo is probably the most important church in Anacapri.
I am not a connoisseur of the architecture of Orthodox places of worship, much less Catholic. What I noticed, however, because I don't know if I have seen it anywhere else, are the small chapels placed on either side of the altar, seven with the one in which the altar is. I understood that there are seven to symbolize the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit (Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Strength/Courage, Knowledge/Science, Piety, and Fear of God). All interior decorations are in Baroque style, and the altar is made in Baroque and Rococo styles.
Finally, the way to visit the church is unusual: those who do this have to move on a wooden bridge, about few cm from the floor and about 50 cm wide according to my assessment – two people cannot pass by each other. The reason is the floor, which is a very special work: it is covered with majolica (Italian earthenware with a special enamel that imitates the metallic gloss) painted in such a way as to depict Heaven and the Primordial Sin.
