点评：The Christmas Markets of Strasbourg have been on our bucket list since starting to explore the Christmas Markets of Europe and we are glad we finally made it. There are between 10-12 Christmas Markets throughout the city centre and they all kind of blend together but the ones we would recommend to family and friends are the ones at Place Kleber, Place de la Cathedral (by Strasbourg Cathedral), and Petite France. Each market has a variety of specialized vendors so it is worth visiting each one to find what you like. One of the best things about the markets is that all items sold have to be produced locally so you will find some very specialized products. The whole city is in on the Christmas Markets and many shops, restaurants and streets will have themes and decorations throughout Strasbourg so it is nice walking around at day or night.
We booked a guided tour through Get Your Guide with One City Tours on Christmas Eve. The guide helped make sense of the markets and showed us special vendors at each market including where to get get chocolate, mulled wine, foie gras, schnapps and many other things. Surprisingly though the oldest market Christkindelsmärik at Place Broglie might be the least exciting of the markets we saw.
We arrived Christmas Eve but would recommend getting here early to explore the Christmas Markets if you can because the markets close at 6 pm Christmas Eve and some may sell out of items closer to this day. You can easily spend two or more hours exploring the markets. The markets sit alongside major landmarks in Strasbourg and many are worth their own time exploring. We would recommend staying in Strasbourg for a couple of days to get the full feel for the market and get prepared for a lot of walking and festive feels.
