点评:We had been to the other Gulbenkian, but never here. What a stunning addition. Japanese and sleek with beautiful materials, the architecture a joy in itself – with little references to the original Gulbenkian – reflecting pools and ponds – and fitting perfectly with the park – a green oasis in the heart of Lisbon. Nor did the art disappoint: a brilliant double exhibition dedicated to Lisbon's Paula Rego and the Brazilian artist Adriana Varejão, whose work we did not know before. It was beautifully curated, drawing striking similarities between the 2 artists. We were bowled over by the work of Adriana Varejão and her expert use of just about every medium under the sun. There were also two other exhibitions to see – both excellent. With great taste, the curators had not crammed the space (which is expansive anyway!) – it was like everything was poised in the beautiful building, so you constantly enjoyed a double experience.
Also a great café and great shop – we bought a beautiful basket inspired by the crafts of a particular former Portuguese colony. They even sold chairs and lighting!
