Good, compact castle in Werfen, Near Salzburg, Austria

点评：This 11 century Castle is near Werfen Station (about 30 min by train from Salzburg). If you happen to come here to see the Werfen Ice caves (Eisriesenwelt ) then you can easily visit this castle.
Its walkable from Werfen station (about 1.6 kms) to the main entrance from where you can take the funicular or walk 20min uphill to reach the castle. There is a ticket for the castle and the funicular (optional).
Not a big castle but has good views, with medieval period arms, battle costumes and cannons. There is a periodic falcon show in the castle. There are good number of steps up and down thus anyone having mobility issues better avoid. A nice peek into the period, history and way of life when these places were used as fortress.
Possible to see around this place easily in about 2 to 3 hours.
If you have not seen other castles nearby and happen to visit werfen for ice caves, Golling waterfall etc then this need not be missed.
