This feels like you are in an active excavation. Very informative and impressive Minoan palace and surrounding city.

点评：Underrated but amazing archaeological site. We were a bit overwhelmed with the crowd while visiting the Knossos Palace the day before and almost passed this up. Fortunately, we had a few extra hours toward the end of the day and were in the area so stopped by. As it was both late in the season and the day, there were no tour busses and only one other car in the lot besides ours.
Tickets are 6 Euros/person. Very reasonable for what you see.
There are permanent roofing structures over the actual excavations so provide some protection from the elements. With some of the tallest walls of the ruins in Crete it is easier to get an idea about the structures and layout of the buildings. There are some giant jars in place that are elaborately decorated.
In the side buildings are photographs of the early excavations as well as a reconstruction of the site in miniature.
Highly recommended! Just be sure to check operating hours as they vary seasonally and the site is closed on Tuesdays.
