Great getaway at Lake Kivu
Kivu boat tours的点评
点评：I spent a short 2 nights at Lake Kivu, during which I wanted to experience the lake culture.
I met Julius while walking to my accommodation and decided to join that evening for a fishing experience with the local fishermen.
We joined the fishermen during sunset when they moved out on the lake and prepared the boats and nets for their first haul of the night.
The fishing is still done the traditional way with 3 boats bound to each other, a net spread underneath, and the use of kerosene lights to attract the fish at night.
I learned about their work and life until after sunset before heading back to shore.
The next day, I joined Julius again on a boat ride across the lake with a coffee factory as destination. Again a very learning experience about the whole coffee experience, from planting to packaging.
All this with a few hours enjoying the boat ride on one of the great lakes of Africa.
The only sad thing was the heavy clouded sky, missing out the wonderful sunsets.
Overall a recommended great experience for spending your time at Lake Kivu.
And thanks to Julius for his friendliness and the organization of the trips.
