Stunning gardens, but very steep paths

点评：Really stunning gardens, particularly the Japanese & Asia section. Very authentic. A lovely surprise to see Flamingos down by the Palace. Not for wheelchair access or low mobility - very steep cobbled paths but with lots of steps with handrails. However, if you can manage to walk down, take your time as it’s beautiful. At the bottom by the Palace, you can take a free buggy car ride back up, but remember to take a ticket for each passenger! Entry cost €15 per adult. Kids go free, but I don’t know maximum age? Open 9.30am-6pm.
The cable car from the bottom of Funchal cost €20 return (until 5.30pm from the top down).
There is a 2nd Botanical Garden with yet another cable car for €22.50 return including admission. We didn’t know it would cost extra, so we didn’t go.
And the Toboggan ride down was closed due to a beautiful flower-filled street religious festival.
