Good trip, wheelchair accessible although eat early!!

点评：Visited here as part of a community youth event (11 children & 5 adults)
Firstly, the tour was great! Wheelchair friendly& accessible, although I had to keep my head torch down so I could see the floor whilst underground, also wrap up warm as it’s VERY cold underground. All the children & adults found it very interesting.
We also visited the stimulation which some of the group found fun & interesting.
One BIG problem we encountered was the cafe. We were originally a group of 20, on the day down to 11 and the venue was fully aware we were visiting as we had booked AND informed them we would be buying food there, we were told that they could definitely cater for us. However after arriving at the cafe which is quite a walk uphill (especially pushing a teen in a wheelchair!) we found out there was hardly any food left at all including in the kitchen because the catering van hadn’t come in BUT after speaking to the staff there who made some phone calls, the two food venues had both been told by the manager a few days previously that they would be unable to cater for us which is completely unacceptable!! Especially as we had been told in advance that they could. We WOULD have been left with 16 hungry children & adults (some of which have additional needs/health problems which means they HAD to eat at regular intervals) but thank goodness for the lady who worked in the cafe WENDY, she literally saved the day! AND it was her day off, she had only come in that day as an extra. She used everything she could in the kitchen to make up some random filled sandwiches & rolls plus 4 jacket potatoes, making enough food to go around us all. She literally saved us as we had other things booked after this & wouldn’t have been able to leave the venue to get food anywhere else. So a MASSIVE thank you to Wendy & at the time we also made it very clear to Wendy how absolutely grateful we were to her so thank you.
