点评:Before heading home, we toured the Abita Springs Mystery House. The quirkiness was kind of fun at first, but overall it left me disappointed. The place is in desperate need of some plain old-fashioned maintenance—picking up trash, dusting, clearing cobwebs, and mopping the bathroom floors.
The dust was so thick in places that visitors had written their names in it. Once we reached the buildings in the back, the overwhelming smell of mold forced us to cut the tour short. Old broken junk was scattered everywhere with no apparent connection to the exhibit, and random 5-gallon paint buckets sat all over the place. The experience quickly shifted from quirky and charming to dirty and hoarder-like. The restroom didn’t even have toilet paper.
It just feels very neglected and uncared for. I really hope someone takes the time to clean it up and restore it. The highlight of the whole visit was meeting the friendly neighborhood cat.
For only five dollars, it wasn’t a huge loss, but we definitely won’t be going back.
