Spectacular even in poor weather.The Black Cuillin up close

点评：Terrible weather at the lochan, never saw a thing this visit with the clag down but still, what an amazing walk!
About 4km and 540m of ascent, it took us 90 mins at a comfortable pace (we’re late 60s but regular hillwalkers) to reach the lochan. The path, after an initial eroded section at the start, is first class until the final ascent up scree and rocky slopes to the lochan.
The final slopes DO look intimidating and I was thinking - how on earth do we get up these big rocky slabs? But the path, though very braided, does wind its way up until it reaches a narrow, short gully between two big slabs.Here, there is mild scrambling for 15 seconds or so with the need to pull yourself up onto a small ledge (nothing dramatic) to then reach the next boulder.I was happy to have my husband wait below me in case I slipped.
This is such an exciting if hostile landscape, incredibly dramatic and a great way to appreciate the Black Cuillin if you can’t manage the ‘easier’ peaks.The enormous boilerplate slabs are something else, Gothic.Ancient and otherworldly.
Of all the walks we did on Skye over these 5 days, we all agreed, despite being pretty soaked with rain, this was our favourite and most rewarding.We also only met 3 other people though bad weather put most off I presume.
Views on the return were fab once we got below the cloud level, over the bay and to Canna and Rum.
The heather was out in force and perfumed the air, gorgeous.
Excellent wee cafe at the campsite in Glen Brittle, great coffee, good tea (from Tiree!) and first class Almond Croissants which they make themselves.Nice shop too.
I’d do this hike rather than the Fairy Pools any day.

这片风景令人兴奋，却又充满敌意，令人叹为观止。如果你无法征服那些“容易”攀登的山峰，这里是欣赏黑库林山脉的绝佳方式。巨大的平板状山峰别具一格，哥特式的，古老而又超凡脱俗。
在这五天里，我们在斯凯岛进行的所有徒步中，我们都一致认为，尽管被雨水淋得湿透，但这次徒步是我们最喜欢的，也是最有收获的。我们也只遇到了另外三个人，不过我猜是恶劣的天气让大多数人望而却步。
当我们到达云层以下，飞越海湾，到达卡纳和朗姆时，回程的景色美极了。
石楠花盛开，空气中弥漫着芬芳，美不胜收。
格伦布里特尔营地的小咖啡馆非常棒，咖啡、茶都很棒（来自泰里岛！），还有他们自制的顶级杏仁羊角面包。商店也很不错。
我宁愿选择这次徒步，也不愿去仙女池。就像我们以前遇到的那样，如果天气好的话，这是斯凯岛最棒的徒步旅行之一。
