点评:While traveling on Interstate 10, we stayed in Lordsburg, New Mexico overnight. We arrived at our hotel very early and looked for something to fill the time. We’d seen a billboard for Shakespeare Ghost Town and called to take a tour - highly recommended. I thought it would be a quick view of a few old buildings. It far surpassed my expectations. The tour guide was so knowledgeable of the history from beginning to end that he made the town come to life. I sensed the miners, proprietors, and family members walking the streets, entering the buildings, and seeking a living from the hard dusty ground. They weren’t afraid of work, and they cared for one another… but it was the wild west and that’s reflected as well. I left with a sense of awe and a greater appreciation for an era that Hollywood can try but can’t quite describe. This is the real thing. If you decide to visit – and I highly recommend that you do, call first. They’re very accommodating but not always available. Dependent upon the time of year, bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. A lot of time is spent in the buildings, but you do spend some time walking outside.
