Low key, highly informative and interesting tour of what's left of a once bustling mining town.
Shakespeare Ghost Town的点评
点评:It doesn't look like much at first, but this is the best abandoned 1800s town stop for me to date. The tour is well-organized, thorough, and captivating. We were there for 2 hours. Instead of just rambling in and out of what's left of old buildings on our own, as we have done in numerous AZ ghost towns before, this town was brought to life for us in stories shared by a member of a family dedicated to not letting its colorful and significant history disappear. We walked the very ground in a spot where once a population of 3000 came together, and now, just the wind and touring visitors like us come through.
The blacksmith shop is actively used today, with goods sometimes for sale. We bought a reasonably priced wall hook, to bring a piece of AZ craftsmanship, and the memory of this stop, home with us.
You MUST schedule a tour ahead. Don't show up to this privately owned property without one and expect to be admitted just because you are at their gate.
