Good Venue and Meal, but the Entertainment Missed the Mark

点评：We attended Oktoberfest at the OEC and had mixed feelings about the evening. On the positive side, the food was very good – plentiful and tasty, which was welcome given that some earlier reviews had noted this as lacking. The drinks were reasonably priced, the venue itself was nicely decorated for the occasion, and the staff were helpful and attentive.
Unfortunately, the entertainment was very disappointing. The event was advertised as featuring an oompah band, but what we experienced was a man shouting in a faux German accent that often slipped into Irish and Brummie. The “humour” consisted largely of berating audience members. Two women were also involved in the act, one of whom had a beautiful singing voice, but unfortunately she wasn't allowed to sing. Their roles were framed as a running joke about them not speaking English and being bossed around. The noise level was unpleasant, and around a third of the audience left the room or venue altogether while he was on stage, returning only when he left. When he came back on, we, like many others, decided to leave completely.
Overall, a real shame – the food, drink and setting were enjoyable, but the entertainment let the whole evening down. We won't be back.
