The Wadsworth-Longfellow House的点评
点评：We were there to see the house, not the Maine Historical Society. We bought a $10 ticket and then were told that we had to pay another $5 to see the house. Maybe the staff should ask visitors? Then we were told we had to wait 40 minutes to see the house because a guided tour was underway and we couldn't join it. When we finally were able to go in the house, we were told we had to download an app to get a self-guided tour that would play aloud. So if you don't have a smartphone, no info for you.
The rooms had no information posted for visitors to read. Oh but wait, they did have dozens of labels on furniture written in wordy, silly prose telling you not to touch or sit on anything. After about the 5th jokey label, it stopped being funny or cute. Here's an idea-- why not put some labels with actual useful, interesting historical facts about Longfellow and his family. The staff we met was unhelpful and unfriendly, EXCEPT for one lovely woman upstairs who was knowledgeable and happy to share history about the house and Longfellow. Overall, our experience was negative and could have been great if rooms had better displays, and some of the staff were more helpful.
