点评:By pure chance we also visited the Duomo di Napoli, or Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta, or Cattedrale di San Gennaro ... However, to clarify at least a little, it is the most important church of the city, in fact, the Cathedral of Naples, the seat of the Archbishop of Naples – the palace that is his residence is practically next to the cathedral.
I say by pure chance because it was on the list, but in the end a little bit. I had another church planned and I would have entered the Duomo di Napoli if I still had time that day. It had started to rain and when I arrived in front of the Cathedral, I decided to go inside to take shelter from the rain. I sat down on a bench and started researching the area on the net, with my phone. That's how I realized where I am.
The interior of the Cathedral is imposing and beautifully adorned with works of art, paintings, sculptures with religious subjects and specific furniture. There is also a museum that is worth visiting for the beauty of the objects on display. I also took an audio-guide, but I gave it up after sitting and listening to the explanations for about 15 minutes just in front of an exhibit.
