提森博物馆的点评
点评：We visited on Monday, when entrance is free (thank you Mastercard, who fund this), from 12-4. Predictably there is a long queue, going around the block before it opens, but it’s a huge venue so people enter quickly and most of the people are in within half an hour. It never felt crowded. By 1.30 you entered without queuing. Note the queue is in the sun, so cream up beforehand.
If you whizz to the uppermost floor you can enjoy the pop art collection largely without crowds. For me this was the highlight, with many interesting pictures.
Overall, its an incredible collection of paintings covering more than 500 years of art history. There are examples of the works of most of painting’s luminaries - Holbein, Picasso, Dali, Caravaggio, Durer, Ruben’s, etc, etc. Good notes with many of the pictures and QR codes to learn more. Lots of slightly less well known but interesting pictures from American artists.
Worth knowing that large bags have to go into the cloakroom and that on free Mondays the temporary exhibitions are closed.
There is an excellent cafe selling sandwiches and larger meals.
