点评：Have been to bansko 6 times over the last 9 years. skier for 35 years.
Bansko has the old town and the new town offering plenty eats drinks still has a pleasant appearance. Plenty places to eat and drink but food prices has mostly doubled over the last 3 years although bar drinks still fairly reasonable at anything from £2 - £3 a 'pint'. Over the years you can develop a rapport with regulars and bar managers, but a lot of staff in some places no longer feel bothered.
However the biggest no no is the lift pass. In 8 years it has rocketed from around £90 (6 day pass) to a dizzy £270 (BGN GBP equivalents). This delusional rate is more than many resorts on Italy, France Austria, and about £75 less than the big hitters three valleys, Val disere etc, who have 400-700km pistes, compared to bansko's errrr 70km.
Overall package prices have also doubled, mainly due to hotels going price delusional, significantly more than other inflation increases in general; you can get cheaper in France Austria, Italy.
It also has a silly short season ending 6 April full stop irrespective if any snow or not, but remember than the majority of pubs and bars will close at least a week beforehand.
Bansko is trying to punch above it's weight. It needs to remember it's attraction was a cheap week ideal for first timers/ beginners/ budget where they could fall over either learning or drinking without watching the cost. Seasoned skiers could enjoy it as a 'leisure ski' rather than a maxing-out ski, or even as a quick cheap fill in extra week.
So..... If you can get a good package deal as beginners, then give it a go, but do shop around, and don't lose sight of other 'lower cost' places, such as Andorra and even Italy.
