Catalina Island AN ABSOLUTE MUST

点评：We are a group of one couple and a single lady. We did the tour to Catalina Island on Wednesday Feb 1, 2023. We were picked up in a timely fashion by our transport and taken to the pickup location for the tour where we joined others from different resorts. The organizing of people coming in from the different locations was a little confusing, but eventually it all turned out okay and we were on our way. The drive from Punta Cana takes about 1.5 hours and allows you to see the countryside. We passed farmlands with Cattle and other livestock and through some little towns. Once we arrived in La Romana, we were then transferred to a beautiful catamaran styled boat where we started our 45 minute to one hour boat ride to Catalina Island. Our first stop was along the reef, where we then got a full 45 minutes to snorkel and explore the reefs. My friend David found a piece of sea kelp and had a bountiful of fish eating right from his fingers. If you have never snorkeled it is quite eye opening to see what lives just beneath the surface of the water.
After snorkeling we continued by boat for another 15 or 20 minutes where we arrived at an absolutely gorgeous beach of white sand and turquoise blue water. There they have a little gift shop for buying souvenirs, or you could lay on your sunbed and get a massage for a reasonable price. I would suggest negotiating the price as they will start pricing high in anticipation of this.
They served us a buffet style bbq’d lunch that consisted of salads, buns, roast potatoes, rice and bbq ham and chicken. The lunch was absolutely great and gave us the substance that we needed for the rest of the day. There is also an open bar, so you can get your rum and cokes etc. You have about 2.5 hours at this cay and then it is back onto the boat, where the party gets started. The crew then gets the music going and starts teaching local dances to the clients.
We had a blast on this trip and would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to get off the resort, spend a day on the water and see the countryside of the Dominican Republic. All in all a great day and we were back home before dark. AN ABSOLUTE DEFINATE MUST!!
