点评:The Archiginnasio di Bologna was the original attempt to bring the faculties and buildings of the world's oldest university into one place. Though founded in 1088, possibly only eight years before Oxford, by building this "palace" in 1562-3, Pope Pius III simplified things until it ceased to be a University in 1803 when the University was moved to Palazzo Poggi where it is today.
The building contains various parts that are still enjoyed by tourists today, including the walls are ceilings around the central courtyard with its multitude of coats of arms, its libraries, the Stabat Mater Hall and the famous anatomy theatre, which was only used in January and February to ensure that it was cold enough to be comfortable with cadavers on the table. Note that some of these need to be paid for separately and booked - so you need some planning, especially at busy times of year. We were fine in February.
