Great dog friendly forest walk
Hamsterley Forest的点评
点评：Had a fantastic walk at Hamsterly Forest on our holiday.
We followed the orange, lower beck trail from the main car park. This is a 4.5 mile route, with some uphill climbs and some narrow bits on the way back down. Plenty of areas to stop by the river for the dogs to have a paddle too.
Our dogs were off lead except where the orange paths join up with the more popular trails aimed at children such as the gruffalo trail. Do watch out for adders though! The one in our photo was just slithering along the footpath, luckily it wasn’t interested in us or our dogs so we snapped a quick photo and left it be, they can make your dog pretty poorly though so do watch out for snake bites if you go.
We stopped half way for a nice picnic by the river and a rest for the dogs before finishing back at the car park.
There’s a nice looking cafe there and a few adventure play areas to choose from. Down the right hand side of the cafe is a tap for water bottle and bowl refills you can help yourself to.
Parking is pay on exit and for everything on offer at Hamsterly I don’t think it’s expensive, there was 5 humans and 3 dogs in our group and you won’t get a day out for that cheap most places.
