Monart Spa Poundbury的点评
点评：I would rate our experience at Monart Spa 6/10.
My daughter and I booked the five-hour thermal spa experience, including a Swedish full-body massage and light lunch. While there were some enjoyable elements, overall I was disappointed and didn’t feel the experience justified the price.
The thermal spa itself is fairly small, consisting of around six separate rooms. In at least two of them, we were left wondering what was actually supposed to be happening or whether they were working properly. The pool temperature was lovely, but parts of the pool floor looked unclean and one of the wall jets was not working, which isn’t something I would expect from a spa at this price point.
The light lunch was lovely and filling, but there were no desserts and the only complimentary drink included with the package was a soft drink.
One of my biggest disappointments was the lack of somewhere to truly switch off. There were a large number of allocated relaxation beds spread over two rooms and, during our visit, very few guests. Despite this, our beds had been allocated immediately beside other guests. Given how many empty beds and how much space there was, I found this difficult to understand. It meant that instead of having some privacy and quiet, we were directly beside other guests talking and looking across at us. Whatever the reason for allocating the beds this way, it really detracted from the sense of relaxation.
I was also surprised that there wasn’t a genuinely quiet, dimly lit room where you could completely switch off. Most areas felt too bright, and even the music in the darker relaxation area after the massage was too loud for me to properly relax.
The massage itself was lovely and the therapist was very pleasant, but the product selling afterwards felt quite heavy and took away from what should have been a relaxing end to the treatment.
The staff were generally friendly and accommodating when we needed anything. However, they were certainly very prompt in making sure we left at the end of our session. I was particularly disappointed to be told that our five-hour experience ending at 5.30pm meant we physically had to be out of the building by 5.30pm. I had reasonably assumed the five hours referred to the spa experience, with time afterwards to shower, change and leave. Instead, changing time was effectively included within the five-hour package.
When we returned to our allocated beds after being told this, our area had already been cleared and cleaned for the next guests and our personal belongings had been moved to the side. For a supposedly relaxing spa experience, this made the ending feel rushed and unwelcoming.
I also didn’t find the receptionist particularly warm or welcoming, which is noticeable when you are paying for what is marketed as a premium experience.
There were positives — the massage was lovely, the lunch was enjoyable and the pool temperature was perfect — but overall I expected much more for the money. I have visited other spas at a fraction of the price where the facilities, atmosphere and overall experience have been considerably more relaxing.
Unfortunately, despite spending five hours there, I never really reached the point where I felt properly relaxed, which for me is the main reason for visiting a spa in the first place.
