点评:A fantastic building steeped in history encircled by its vineyards. My fifth visit at least, but the first with my nephew & brother, and sadly not the best! We did arrive a little late at almost 4pm, but the notice board told us we had over an hour, with a closing time of 5p.m. We paid the €12 each and enjoyed our exploration of the extraordinary buildings, 14th century giant wine presses etc.
Then at just after quarter to 5 we were told the Chateau was closing and we were mired in or less hearded out to the gift shop - along with several other small groups, all looking at their watches and wondering why we were being turfed out early. Asking the question simply resulted in a repetition of the not very informative “nous sommes fermés”. Clearly they were preparing to host one of their famous evening parties, but a pity the lowly “tourist class” were shoed away 10 minutes ahead of schedule to make way. Ho hum!
