Blocked After Dive Trip – Payment Still Outstanding from Ilko Gochev

点评：Mr. Ilko Gochev from Bulgaria booked our yacht for a Maldives dive safari trip from 22–29 March 2025, bringing a group of 17 divers. He had initially agreed to pay a 30% deposit to confirm the booking, but that never came through. He sent what appeared to be a payment slip, but no funds ever arrived. When we followed up, his responses were unexpectedly rude. Later, he assured us that he would bring the full payment in cash upon arrival.
When we met him at the airport, he arrived with significantly less cash than promised. We made it clear that we could not proceed with the trip unless the full payment was made. He asked us to continue and assured us that the remaining balance would be transferred during the trip. His guests seemed completely unaware of the situation, and in good faith, we decided to proceed.
Unfortunately, by the end of the trip, the payment was still incomplete. He gave us further assurances that the transfer would be made shortly. However, after leaving the country, he blocked us on WhatsApp and Instagram, has ignored all follow-up emails, and hung up the phone when we attempted to call and request payment. It has now been more than four months, and the balance remains unpaid.
This experience has been deeply disappointing. We honored the agreement for the sake of his guests, trusting his repeated promises. We still hope he will take responsibility and settle the outstanding amount. In the meantime, we believe it is only fair to caution others in the dive, liveaboard, and tourism industry to be extremely careful when dealing with Mr. Ilko Gochev or anyone representing his business.
