Boating at Cliveden的点评
点评：We enjoyed a wonderful boat trip along the Thames from National Trust Cliveden House.
Our boat arrived spot on time - the Duchess of Sutherland.
Captain Gary, what a guy. If he’d said ‘Smoke me a kipper …’ it wouldn’t have been out of place. He expertly piloted us up and down the river, through Cookham lock. His knowledge of Cliveden, sailing, wildlife, the river and properties / people of interest along it is excellent and added hugely to our enjoyment of gently sailing along watching the world go by. We also saw cormorant, egret, heron and a fleeting kingfisher! The rain hammered down for part of the journey which after the drought we’ve had was lovely and only further added to a super trip. Thoroughly recommend this trip to all, with Captain Gary at the helm of course 🫡😁
One word of warning - at the end of the boat trip there are 172 steps to climb back up to the house! (Unless you’re smart enough to hail the ‘taxi’ kindly provided to ferry folks to and from the house to river. Note - sometimes this needing booking in advance )
