点评:Very friendly and informative while booking 2-3 dives near Koh Rok. Quite costly for local standards. After seeing the rough sea in the early morning combined with the weather predictions I asked if it was still alright to go to Koh Rok. According to the owner the weather was always like this in the morning. Since I’m not a local I put my trust in his experience. Getting from Koh Kradan to Koh Rok meant sailing in a smaller (not pictured) long tail through at least sea state level 4, sometimes 5. Strong onshore winds meant it was 20-30 cm jelly heaven around the dive site. Still we went in (mind you: long wetsuits are not available), the DM said it would be different further down. It was not: luckily there was some vinegar on board. So back we went, 1.5 hours through the same conditions to do the second dive near the calmer Koh Kradan instead of Koh Rok. After a calm so-so dive through turbid water we called it quits.
The idea of going with a local dive master is gaining local knowledge of the (micro)climate and conditions as well. Nothing in this trip shows 20 years of experience. Being able to predict the jelly’s is debatable. Assessing the sea state and local conditions is not. Neither is a three sentence dive-brief. Two stars for the kind and friendly staff.
