点评:We drove up through the gorge itself from Cheddar at the bottom so as to get a perspective of it from 'down below' before parking nearer the top and walking down the 'left' side above the gorge (you need to follow the footpath from the parking spot on the road, up the footpath and onto the top of the gorge itself) all the way down to Cheddar village, before stopping off there for refreshments and cheese tasting! The gorge path on the other side can be accessed from a pathway up just as you walk up the road (opposite and slightly further up from the caves entrance). There are great views from both sides. From the 'left' hand side looking down over Cheddar village and the reservoir beyond, to the Somerset Levels and (if you glimpse it) Glastonbury Tor. From the other side there are great views looking down to the roadway at the bottom of the gorge (don't go too near the edge, as there are very few barriers, if any!) There are 'tame' goats and sheep which roam on one side and help to maintain a good level of the grass, which helps some of the rare plants which thrive up here. Make sure you bring good stout shoes and a water bottle and maybe stop off in Cheddar itself for a bite to eat. There's plenty there for the tourist to enjoy!
