点评:This is a very rocky beach, which is common on Big Island. It's excellent for snorkeling and seeing cute little fish. During the day, there are volunteers there reminding people to not step down on the coral, which I appreciate.
One volunteer decided to tell us we couldn't walk on lava rocks above the water because it was "very dangerous" although we walk on rocks by the ocean all the time, and are both adults. I understand warning unattended children and telling them not to walk, or even a simple, "Hey, those are slippery, be careful!" Warning to a fellow adult, but it felt like we were getting yelled at for being two careful adults walking very carefully, having experience with this and researching the beaches we planned to visit. The whole place is rocky. Obviously it's slippery. We knew and were being careful. This one volunteer kind of turned us off the beach. I love that the volunteers tell you how to protect the coral while you're there though, and I appreciate that!
I suggest to wear water shoes while at this beach and to, yes, be careful while walking on lava rocks, as it goes with any beach. We enjoyed the beach for swimming and for seeing a nice variety of colorful fish. Watch out for sea urchins in the rocks, and don't step down under the water to help preserve the coral.
There is also a pavilion there that you are free to use as long as someone hasn't reserved it for an event on that day.
