Amazing location and incredible history!
Richborough Roman Fort and Amphitheatre的点评
点评：We stopped by Richborough Roman Fort on a whim while exploring Kent’s castles and we were absolutely blown away. The weather was perfect, which made wandering around the site even more special. We hadn’t known what to expect, but the museum was fascinating, beautifully presented, and full of detail. The audio tour was excellent too and it really brought the history to life and transported us back to Roman times.
I was lucky enough to stop and chat with a volunteer named Dawn, who pointed out a piece of marble in the main fort wall and shared details I would have completely missed. What a wonderful woman who is so knowledgeable and passionate. It was a real pleasure to meet her.
Reading some of the other reviews made me laugh; anyone who says it’s “just a pile of stones” clearly hasn’t taken in the historical importance of this place or used their imagination to picture what once stood here. At one point, there was a marble arch as large as the Arc de Triomphe, for gawd’s sake!
For us, Richborough was an absolute must-see and a true highlight of our trip.
