点评:I went there on a recommendation from my driver. It was a very pleasant and amazing surprise.
My guide was extremely knowledgeable and spoke really god English. I was thoroughly impressed by his detailed knowledge and commitment to the concept.
Besides the beauty of the place and the many different cultural experiences on offer, what most impressed me was the strong emphasis on Sustainability in tourism.
I am a tour guide in New Zealand and know what questions to ask. They limit daily admissions to 30 visitors and focus on quality over quantity. As this is a fairly new venture, they have very clear targets on how to measure the success of the concept. There are some short- to midterm milestones clearly defined. The short term metrics are there to ensure that the village can see progress and people stay with the program. The village still derives income from farming and horticulture. Also they are exploring ways of up-skilling the younger generation to avoid dependence on tourism.
I spent nearly two hours engaged in very informative and interesting conversation.
The admission fee was moderate and justified.
