Interesting facts about Akkalkot temple:
1. The temple has a simple architecture. It is not designated with the carvings common in other temples. There are a total of five temples which form the entire complex. The temple consists of main temple, Sabha mandap and accommodation.
2. Here there is one holy Banyan tree inside temple premises where Swami Samarth Maharaj had spent more than 20 years below it.
3. Swami Samarth Maharaj came to Akkalkot in 1856 and resided in town for close to 22 years and then took Maha samadhi.
4. The Samadhi of Swami Samarth is the focal point of the temple complex and is a site of worship and meditation. The Death Anniversary is celebrated on Chaitra Sudha Thrayodashi every year.
