点评:The Pandavleni or Trirashmi caves in Nashik are not much spoken about. They are dwarfed by the deserving attention for the ancient Trimbakeshwar temple, Panchavati and other stories around the Ramayana. These caves were not part of our initial itinerary. However, we had spare time and the weather was reasonable(not too hot) so we decided to give a "dekho"! Lying conveniently on the Nashik-Mumbai Highway, it's fairly easy to access by road. To my surprise, these caves were sculpted similarly to the ones in Elephanta, Ajanta etc. The climb is steep and will likely take 15 to 20 minutes by walk via steps. Wise to carry a bottle of water since nothing is available on top. The entry ticket for adult Indians is Rs. 20. The number of caves is limited. The view of Nasik city from the top is breathtaking . The disappointment is that there's minimal description of the caves, though there are some boards - on the way to the top - explaining some details. Also it's a shame that we and the Government are not proud of our treasures and maintain it better. In my opinion, if you are in Nashik, do keep aside about 1.5 hours to visit these caves, especially if you haven't had an opportunity to visit Ajanta, Ellora etc.
