Edinburgh Marine Academy的点评
点评：I have just spent 2 days doing a Helmsman course, which I passed. The way the course was delivered, integrating my role with Skipper trainees, worked well and added value to the course, learning not just from the trainer but also from those with more experience and within a team.
The waves got pretty big during the 2 days and it proved to be a genuine experience that helped to stretch the group a bit more than perhaps they were expecting. The course itself is a very good introduction to anyone thinking of buying a boat or living on one (as I am planning to do) and provides a great reality check on what to expect when out on the river.
The trainer (Fergus) has a very good "trainer quality", giving clear instruction, being calm under pressure and working with his trainees as opposed to be overly directive or loud. This was aptly illustrated on the second day when the waves were particularly high, waves crashing over the bow and soaking the whole boat, giving his trainees scope to pilot the boat as a team and only stepping in when he really needed to, helping to add confidence and experience to the trainees.
I would recommend Edinburgh Marine Academy and I will be taking some further courses with them as a result of my experience over the last 2 days.
