点评:Just outside Cambridge is a large expanse of tarmac and a bus stop. It used to be a large expanse of tarmac, a public transport information hub with loos and a helpful person behind the counter, and a bus stop, but now it is just a large expanse of tarmac and a bus stop. It masquerades as a "Park and Ride", facility, and insofar as it is possible to deposit one's car on a section of the large expanse of tarmac and travel by bus to the town centre (Cambridge vainly likes to call itself a city but where's the cathedral?) it meets the literal threshold of "Park and Ride" without the facilities usually associated with the moniker. The hub, over which I'm sure an architect and his oompa loompas spent many hours designing and construction workers spent building, is an impressive building. The interior is well lit giving the misleading impression from afar that there lies within carbon based human life forms with both pulse and synaptic connection, but on drawing near this impression is but a mirage. Closer inspection of this building indicates this has been abandoned for some considerable time. What was once a beacon of municipal transport architecture is less a beacon than a torch whose three AAA batteries were last changed at the late Queen's Silver Jubilee. As far as tarmac goes, the tarmac works. Cars drive along it and stop as designed. There's little evidence of vehicles plummeting into pot holes leaving carnage in their wake. As bus stops go, the bus stop works. Buses stop, deposit people (many of whom are looking for a loo) and leave with new people in search of Cambridge's treasures. This facility doesn't reflect well on the town.
