Great Northern Snowcat Skiing的点评
点评：My first Cat skiing experience.
- Weather was unseasonably warm, so snow was a little more spacklier than the dry champagne powder that I would have hoped for. Still a great trip with fresh tracks every run.
- Cats have water, hot tea, sandwiches, and snacks (homemade cookies or rice crispy squares). I like to munch on something savory so I put a couple bags of chips in our Cat every morning.
- Shoutout to out guides Dave and Ian, our driver Wes. They gave us 3 sick days of skiing. Very patient, helpful, knowledgable about the terrain etc. We were taken on a great mix of terrain: mellow, tree, steeps, open bowls, pillows, and even optional "rad" lines (cliffs). Accommodated snowboarders in our group well (had them go last on traverses so they didn't get stuck.
- Shoutout to all of the other field, lodge and kitchen staff. Carla, who checked us in and out. Everyone was super friendly and knew my name. It was impressive.
- Half of our lodge were long time guests, some had been coming every other year for 16 years. They were also super friendly.
- The guides joined us for dinner and regaled us with fun stories at night.
- Lodge has a solid sauna and a new hot tub.
- Dinner and breakfast is a 4 big round tables. Very social. Every night you get a soup or salad, entree, and a desert. Their website mentions 4 course meals but we were given 3 courses. Breakfast is varied and has good protein options. 2 espresso machines for on demand coffee.
- Rooms had poor sound isolation, not sure if it was vents or thin walls. Another guest mentioned hearing snoring from neighboring rooms. This is quite far. down on my priority list for skiing, but if you are a light sleeper bring some earplugs.
