点评:One of the joys of coastal areas are the lighthouses. Each old and with a story to tell. Generally where and when they were built involved a lot of ingenuity and just plain hard work. Grays Harbor Lighthouse is just outside Westport. It’s on a bit of a knoll and is now surrounded by high trees. They’ve grown up since it was built. And, it has ‘moved’ from the ocean from 400 feet to 3000 due to the deposit of sand from a nearby stream. So, it may not be as visible as once was The lighthouse is a majestic thing. Standing tall (the tallest ion the Washington Coast). We parked nearby and walked up to the lighthouse. They have tours going to the top. But, we couldn’t do a tour since the last one for the day had just commenced. We did get to go inside. They are amazing things. This one had an iron circular stairway going all the way to the top. What a job installing that baby. Great to see it.
