点评：FILTHY!! The rubbish is so piled up behind bamboo fences that it’s embarrassing to call this a ‘place of beauty’ anymore! We first visited here in 2018 and it was absolutely beautiful, a picture perfect tropical destination with clean, pristine sandy beaches and sea. When we visited this year, we couldn’t wait to leave…..the amount of cockroaches we saw in the evenings were sickening. Despite each tourist having to pay a mandatory ‘fee’ on arrival to Phi Phi Island for ‘cleaning purposes from tourism’, I can confirm that there was certainly no cleaning done in the 4 days we were there!! Instead, all rubbish is bagged up and dumped in remote areas of the island, sadly most are near beaches. If you peek through the bamboo fences you will see mountains of broken rubbish bags rotting away and the smell is something I can’t begin to describe!
The beaches are dirty to the point where other tourists were asking advice of what beaches are clean enough to swim in, especially with children. The sea itself has scum on top in some of the bigger beaches.
The rubbish problem is more apparent when on a boat trip or tour around the island and to neighbouring beaches…….where the tides hit the rocks there are so many plastic bottles and other rubbish that we wouldn’t even swim. Taking photos of swimming with rubbish isn’t our idea of a beauty destination, and I wouldn’t swim in the sea this year seeing how polluted it was. There are more ‘party/drinking bars’ open now for those less interested in nature and those more interested in partying and drinking. This is definitely the WRONG direction the island is heading for.
What a sad sad state of neglect this beautiful location has become…….the outcome of over tourism and commercialism over natural beauty. We’re so so fortunate to have seen Phi Phi at it’s full natural beauty in 2018 as we certainly never want to return.

这个美丽的地方变成了多么可悲的被忽视的状态……这是过度旅游和商业化的结果，而忽略了自然美景。我们很幸运能在 2018 年看到皮皮岛最美丽的自然风光，我们绝对不想再回来了。
