Dorcheat Historical Museum的点评
点评：Passed through Minden two weeks ago with an afternoon to spare and called the director at the Dorcheat museum (Schelley) to see if she would open for me and my extended family. My family has history in Minden and I was interested in learning more about my ancestors and the town they settled nearly 2 centuries ago.
Schelley not only made herself available, but spent a couple of hours with us going through the details of the museum and exhibits, telling stories about historical figures, including many of my ancestors. There were so many stories and so much interesting background.
After that, she even offered to take us to family graves in the local cemetery. The cemetery is very old (and looks it) but the museum has put extensive work into improving and maintaining and improving the graves. It was fantastic to get all of the backstories on my ancestors. It was also a beautiful day.
If you are a person who understands that greater good starts with individuals and small groups and their stories, you will be so appreciative of this fantastic historical collection in Minden, whose tales really extend well beyond the county and even the state of Louisiana.
