点评：We walked the quarter-mile Observation Trail which loops uphill and then back down through a series of spectacular rock formations and scenic views. The trail is paved with flagstones so it’s easy to walk. We had not looked at any photos or videos before we went, so didn’t quite know what to expect. We started up and began to see some cool rocks and thought hey, this was worth doing. Then we made it up to the bluffs where the scenic views begin and were blown away by how beautiful it all was. We spent 50 minutes on this short trail because we stopped so many times to take photos and look at scenic views. The place was just stunning and I’m so glad we made the effort to visit. Be aware there are many places where you can walk off the trail and right out onto the edge of a high rock or cliff, so caution is required especially if you take children.
Our visit was on a Wednesday afternoon at 3:45pm and there were a good many people there. The parking lot at the Observation Trailhead was pretty large so I imagine there are times when the place can get crowded.
There are other trailheads in the Garden of the Gods area but we didn’t have time to visit those on this trip.
