点评:After poor experiences with both this shop and Responsible Pet Care, I cannot recommend either, which saddens me as I would prefer to support anyone working to help animals. I recently trapped a feral kitten that showed up on our porch thanks to the help of the very kind city animal control officer. He told me I could check the kitten's status that evening by calling them after he dropped it off at RPC and I did so but I spoke with an incredibly rude girl who said 'I could not see the cat, had no idea what cat I was inquiring about, and that they have literally 100s of cats'. She was completely dismissive, non-empathetic and had no interest in its welfare. It was a very upsetting experience for me and I instantly regretted trapping it. I rang this shop to let them know of my poor experience and I followed up with Shirley who runs RPC. Keep in mind I was watching this kitten via a home camera monitor as it was unapproachable, so I was feeding it as I had great concern for its welfare. I continued to inquire as to the status of the kitten through my own perseverance via texts with Shirley all the way up until its completed adoption. Today I stopped into their gift shop and picked up multiple small, fragile items. The older woman made no attempt to wrap them. I assumed she would put tissue around them as a previous clerk did on another visit. As she was carelessly placing them into my bag unwrapped, she caught the other items and they proceeded to fly into the air and break apart. As I expressed disbelief at the lack of her common sense, she grew aggravated at me for being upset that my items were now in pieces. When I spoke to the manager her reaction was 'well mistakes happen' and 'we usually wrap things'. She too was completely indifferent. This seems to be a pattern with this entity (both the RPC shelter and their shop). As people like myself go to great lengths to help strays, show members of the public consideration regarding the animals they find. The same goes for customers of the shop, ensure purchases are carefully handled by staff or volunteers (only the manager can enforce this, but she is sitting in the back and does not seem to care). I don't know if it is due to nepotism in hiring practices (as family members work within this umbrella) or simply bad management, or a combination of both, but you need to do better as a charity for the community and most importantly for the animals.
