点评:Our excellent guide for the extra virgin olive oil experience, Annarita, led us through the olive groves pointing out the 1000+ year old trees, different olive varietals, ancient limestone landscape characteristics, and historical significance of oil production and how it has evolved to current day. The walking tour of the groves was followed by a visit to the ancient underground mill, which is now a museum filled with much history and interesting stories. Annarita was fun, knowledgeable, and very passionate about this beautiful place and the olive trees that have been growing there and producing amazing olive oil for centuries. After our tour of the grounds, we were treated to a tasting of three different extra virgin olive oils produced here, led by our professional guide Rosaria, who is an olive oil sommelier! She explained the proper way to taste and evaluate extra virgin olive oil, which greatly increased our knowledge and appreciation for this "liquid gold." Our friendly welcome from the staff, interesting tour, and olive oil tasting at this beautiful frantoio was one of the highlights of a week long stay in Puglia with our group of 10 friends.
