点评:Tuesday 8th October and we spotted this bronze sculpture as we walked along the famous Calle O'Daly in the heart of Santa Cruz.
The sculpture is a tribute to the poet and writer Félix Francisco Casanova. He was born in Santa Cruz de La Palma on the
28th September 1956 and died on the 14th January 1976, aged 19, on the island of Tenerife.
He tragically lost his his young life as result of suffocation, due to a gas leak, while taking a shower in the bathroom of his house.
During his short life he was an award winning writer and poet, publishing his first book of poetry in 1860, aged fourteen.
The sculpture depicts Casanova as a handsome young man, with his shoulder length hair in a relaxed sitting position. The sculpture is located on the steps of the buildings, numbers 16 to 18 along the street.
Alongside the sculpture, in the shape of a book, is a plaque with the poet's date of birth and death on one page and words of one of his piece's of work on the other page.
