点评：I went up and came down the Viswema way. One can also use the Jakhama path, which is steeper and almost 90% climb, but from what I have heard it maybe a little faster especially for seasoned trekkers who don’t mind the steep climbs.
I am glad I chose the scenic route though … the first 3-4 Km was a steep climb, but the moment you emerge from that climb and land in dzoukou valley, it’s like stepping into a different world. From here it’s a long walk to the base camp with occasional climbs or descents to negotiate, but I promise you it will be the most memorable walk of your life. You will walk through a narrow path surrounded on all sides by the pristine untouched beauty of the landscape that will leave you mesmerised. From the base camp, it is possible to go further down into the valley, which is again a steep descent, and many travellers camp overnight at the base camp. I did not do that but I can understand why one would want to camp here — if I was prepared, I wouldn’t want to miss the chance either.
Couple things to note:
You will need to rent a jeep to bring you up from Viswema to the Dzoukou starting point, and they will charge you about 4k for the round trip because of the rough terrain although it’s not that much distance.
Carry an ID proof (digital copy should work) for entry registration.
A good walking stick will help immensely, consider buying a proper one beforehand.
