My First Mt Kinabalu Adventure — Amazing Support from Start to Finish ⛰️
神奇婆罗洲之旅的点评
点评：I returned from my ⛰️Kinabalu adventure safely on Wed - 9 Sept, 2026.
I aborted my climb to the peak in the early hours of 8 Sept because I felt I wouldn't be able to make the 600m climb/hike to Sayat-Sayat by 5:30am cut-off.
Hence, it would be a futile effort, as I would not be allowed to proceed to the final stretch to the summit.
Nevertheless, for someone who did not train for it and booked at the spur of the moment, it is indeed an adventure of my lifetime.
God willing, for my next attempt, I will be more physically prepared and perhaps choose a package that does not have a cut-off at 5:30 am at Sayat Sayat. As I understand it, there are packages that allow for a slow ascent, etc., and are not time-bound.
My group comprised me, a guide and a porter ("Girl Power").
My guide, Ms Suzana and porter, Ms Iva were really super, patient and guided me well and ensured my safe hike up (beyond Panalaban) and back to Timpohon ✨🙏
I did not reach the summit on this first attempt due to my own shortcomings and not my guide or porter.
Spectacular views, with the crescent moon and stars lit in the dark sky, colored by the mist and rain too during my hike up and down, all in the name of my first Mt Kinabalu adventure🥰. Views captured in my mind's camera !!!
God willing, I will return to reach the summit when the time is right🙏
I will treasure my "practice" certificate and the photos with many learning points.
I record my sincere thanks to Ms Priscilla (my first point of contact), who was extremely patient, attentive, and responsive to all my "Senior Citizen" queries, and provided good advice too, from the ideation of my Mt Kinabalu adventure to its conclusion. Everything was well organised, with online portals to track and report too.
From the pick-up at KK International Airport (briefing by Mr Tan and Eddy), the Kinabalu Park stay and registration, Panalaban, to the return and drop-off at Kota Kinabalu Hotel on 8 Sept, it was all 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Everyone I encountered was friendly, professional, and courteous✨, always ensuring that I (and my belongings) were ok, safe, and comfortable.
I would highly recommend the Amazing Borneo team and would certainly reach out to them for my next "summit attack"!!!!
