点评：The Parque Arqueológico de Raqchi was a particularly interesting and unique stop for me. From the very first moment, it’s clear that this isn’t a “classic” archaeological site—it’s much more open, spacious, and on a different scale compared to many others. The massive wall remains and the foundations of the former temple leave a strong impression, and it’s easy to imagine how important this place must have been during Inca times.
I really enjoyed that you can properly walk around and explore the area. It’s not crowded or rushed, so there’s time to stop, look around, take photos, and listen to the guide’s explanations, which add a lot to the experience. This way, you’re not just looking at stones—you actually understand what was there and how the site once functioned.
It’s important to note, however, that Raqchi is really only worth visiting if you’re traveling between Puno and Cusco. On its own, as a separate trip, it probably wouldn’t justify the extra time and effort. As a stop along the way, though, it’s perfect: not tiring, informative, and a great way to break up the journey.
