点评:Small entrance building including tiny gift shop when you arrive.
The orchard where the famous apple tree sits wasn't accessible today due to muddy conditions underfoot but you could easily see the tree from the path in front of the house so no real issue there.
The Manor House was small with about 6 rooms to explore and an introductory short video. There was a volunteer at the house entrance to greet and then you are free to wander through the house where there is usually a volunteer in Newton's room upstairs to primarily give some brief detail on what you are looking at in the room.
Nothing too intrusive.
Perhaps the most disappointing aspect to our most recent visit is that the once excellent science discovery centre has been moved from the building which is now the cafe and shoehorned in to the adjacent farm building.
Whilst this is still of some interest, it looks less professional and a bit haphazard.
Toilet facilities are decent and staff and guides all very friendly and helpful.
Gift shop prices are absurd and put some people off buying.
For example. I wanted to buy a canvas shopping bag with the famous apple tree picture on it so I could send it to a relative abroad but it was £14.00.
14 quid for a basic canvas shopping bag. I think a tenner at a push would have been too expensive but I would maybe have bought it. 14 quid put me off totally and thus no sale.
NT would sell a lot more if they reduced the ludicrous prices a little and then make more in the long run.
