点评:Although Terra Nova is not in the “spectacular” category of many of Canada’s national parks ( hence my 4, rather than 5 star review) it is still quite beautiful and has much to offer for the visitor. We were in nearby Glovertown for four days, and we stopped by the visitor centre on our arrival. The touch tank and small aquarium displays of the local marine animals in the centre was informative, and fun. We were told that the next day, being closing day, visiting children would be invited to assist to return the animals to their natural habitat for the winter. We didn’t get back for that, but would have enjoyed it I’m sure.
While at the visitor centre I asked for hints on which trails might provide me an opportunity to spot a moose in the wild. One of the suggestions was the Southwest Arm trail at dawn or dusk, so I dutifully returned at dawn two days later, and enjoyed a peaceful walk alongside a small river. On the return leg, I did indeed spot a moose, who was reluctant to hang around for a photo. On the drive back to our vacation rental I spotted the Mill Cove lookout trail, which provided a unique opportunity to do a quick hike ( steep in parts) to a lookout showing expansive views of the area. So, although my park experience was all too brief, it was enough for me to say that I’d come back in a heartbeat if given the chance.
