点评:I have traveled to many ski resorts in Austria over many years, so this is written with much experience.
Maria Alm is a pretty place but one of the most expensive resorts I have been to. I stayed with my family on a B&B basis so we ventured out for our evening meals. This proved to be more difficult than you would think, with most restaurants fully booked and most beyond our budget. We were told it is because a lot of wealthy people have holiday homes here and prices have rocketed. We had what we thought would be a cheap meal in the ‘Dorf Stadl’ which turned out to be a rip off. We were charged extra for all sorts of stuff, ketchup, mayo and even a sprinkle of cheese on a spag bog! And €10 for a glass of wine takes the mickey. The menu is a scam if you ask me. I thought I was back in France with the prices here. Special mention to the aga.rent hire shop who were both helpful and friendly.
We spent the week cross country skiing and I have to say the scenery was stunning and the tracks were well groomed, however, the xc options are good but limited.
We were accommodated at the Pension Koidl which is slightly out of town but within walking distance to everything. Be warned it is up a steep Hill which was icy. Breakfast was great and with the prices in town I looked forward to it every morning!
