Harlem Valley Rail Trail的点评
点评：Beautiful day. Went for a leisurely peaceful ride. Two men came up behind me on a narrow bridge. I heard the first say "on your left". I stayed to the right but after he passed i pulled back to the left because of vines growing through the fence on my right. I thought there was only one cyclist but there were two. I swerved back to the right to avoid him. My handlebar got caught on one of the vertical boards on the fence and I went down. They stopped to help but I was roughly one mile from my truck on Rudd pond Road. Somehow I biked back to the truck where my husband met me and took me to the hospital. I have a C2 neck fracture . Luckily I had my helmet on. I was transported by ambulance to Hartford Hospital and was lucky enough to avoid surgery but will be wearing a neck brace and basically immobile for the next several weeks. I have been riding the trail as a leisure cyclist for about 5 years. Im 65 now. I have never had anyone pass me from behind on that bridge before. If you're riding the trail, make sure you are wearing your helmet and beware the guys in bike shorts training for the tour de France. I was lucky to have a broken neck that didn't kill me. Maybe "no passing from behind" signs are warranted on the narrower bridges, and cutting back the overgrown vegetation on the bridges would be wise also.
