点评:Holyrood Park is quite simply extraordinary — a vast, wild landscape and national park sitting right in the middle of Edinburgh. It’s hard to think of many cities in the world that offer something like this.
When I lived in Edinburgh, I regularly took my dog for walks here, sometimes a couple of times a week. There are numerous paths winding through the hills, and despite being so close to the city, you can often feel like you have the place entirely to yourself.
The Queen’s Drive loop is a brilliant walk, taking around an hour at a relaxed pace and offering fantastic views over Edinburgh and out towards the surrounding countryside. It’s accessible, scenic, and endlessly rewarding.
At the heart of the park is Arthur’s Seat, the dramatic dormant volcano that dominates the skyline. There are several routes to the summit, ranging from gentle to more challenging. The views from the top are magical — although in my experience, I’ve never been up there without battling what feels like a 50 mph gale!
Wild, beautiful, and completely free, Holyrood Park is one of Edinburgh’s greatest treasures and not to be missed.
